No Super Bowl performer has been as embattled as Bad Bunny—even before he got a chance to sing a single note. In the United States, where football is Jesus and the Super Bowl is the Ascension, the halftime show is the biggest stage there is, and, historically, mere announcements of the selected musician has not been controversial. But the U.S. is in utter shambles, so a bunch of culturally decrepit white supremacists currently imprisoning 5-year-olds for being brown went on a weird rampage about the choice of a Puerto Rican megastar whose music is in Spanish. The great American tradition of men smashing heads would, they argued, be sullied.
